For those who are new to our school community, the Christian Credit Union has been a supporter of our school for many, many years. They have been involved in supporting us through being a sponsor in the annual golf tournament, assisting in the installation of a new gym floor, and a score board over the years to name a few.
They also have a Youth Banking Program for students in grades 1-12 (and beyond). Youth are encouraged to meet their monthly savings goals and when doing so they receive a bonus that is in addition to regular account interest. Participating schools earn a matching bonus and receive $5.00 for every new account opened. Note: Bonuses are paid annually in August.
Every month on the first Thursday, we collect the money from the students which will get taken to the bank. An envelope and receipt will be given to the student when they make a deposit. If you are sending money with your child to the school please make sure their name and grade are written on the bag/envelope in which you place the money, that way we won't get them mixed up. We will go to each class, as we did last year for grades 1-8, and grade 9-12 can come to the music room at lunch time. New accounts can be opened here at the school; please contact Sonya de Leeuw at [email protected] for more information.
We hope to bring back the candy counting game and possibly some other events for the school to participate in! Stay tuned and looking forward to assisting the CCU Youth Banking Program again this year!
