In 1977 the hopes, dreams, hard work and most certainly the prayers of many in our church community were realized as the doors of learning opened for the first time at Parkland Immanuel Christian School (PICS).
Parents are primarily responsible for the education of their children. For education to be most effective there should be uniformity of purpose and direction between home, school and church. Our school exists to assist parents in providing education that is based on and shaped by the Holy Scriptures, as summarized in the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism and Canons of Dort. The school, together with the home and the church, instructs and equips covenant children in and for the service of the Lord in all areas of life as prophets, priests, and kings. Much has changed at PICS over four decades, but our foundation has not.
We have a vision for PICS: enthusiastic learning, caring people and a nurturing community - an environment that promotes Learning in Faith Everyday (LIFE). Parkland Immanuel Christian School provides parents a Reformed, covenantal learning environment for educating our children and youth. Through core and optional subjects, sports and music, drama and the arts, students can acquire the knowledge, skills and Christian worldview needed for a life of responsible stewardship.
In the coming years, we anticipate continued growth in our school enrolment. Plans are well underway for a significant building expansion to accommodate that growth. While the building provides a venue, it is how we build each other up in an environment of learning and love that remains our focus, rooted in the words of 2 John 1:5,6: I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
Should you choose to apply to have your children attend Parkland Immanuel Christian School, you may expect our pledge to you: as Board we will work with staff, parents and students to create a safe and upbuilding school where we can all glorify God.
As Board, we also have expectations of parents who send their children to PICS. We expect financial support as God has blessed you; and we expect parents to volunteer their time in support of the school and school activities. Together we can continue to improve Parkland Immanuel Christian School to the glory of our God and Father.

Philosophy
Parents are primarily responsible for the education of their children. In order for education to be most effective, there should be uniformity of purpose and direction between home, school, and church. To achieve this, parents belonging to Canadian Reformed Churches of Edmonton have established a school society and elected a parental board to operate and maintain Parkland Immanuel Christian School. It is the mandate of this board to hire suitable staff to carry out the daily instruction in the school in accordance with the directives of the society and subject to Holy Scriptures, as summarized in the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort.
