Caregiver Education Sessions

Dear Parents,

Please click here to have a look at the Caregiver Education Sessions available this winter. These free 90 minute sessions are intended to provide parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members with basic information regarding mental health challenges that can and do affect children and youth, such as sleeping, anxiety, and executive functioning.

Presentations are hosted in schools but are open to all adults in the community. Some sessions welcome youth to attend with their parent/caregiver; however, unless specified these sessions are for an adult audience.

PICS is hosting a session on Test Anxiety on Wednesday, January 15 from 6-7:30 pm (see details below).

We have had multiple facilitators present to our staff at PICS in the past few years and, while I don’t know each presenter personally, I feel confident that the workshops would be of value to those within our community. Please note that you do have to register in advance for these workshops.

Test Anxiety: Strategies for Success

Does your teen prepare for a test only to freeze or blank out during the test? Does your teen’s anxiety hold them back from their full potential? Test and performance anxiety are very common among students. This session will help teens learn how to succeed despite their anxiety and help caregivers support their teens to reduce test anxiety. We will explore what happens when a student experiences test anxiety and provide practical strategies and resources for you and your teen to use to manage anxiety symptoms.

Parents and teens (grades 7-12) are encouraged to attend this session together.

To ask questions or to confirm your attendance, please contact Arenda Vanderveen at school at 780-444-6443 or email:
